Yesterday in class we had a discussion on being white and the joys about it. I have to totally agree with all the statements about being white. I would love to have been born white. I was cursed with dark skin and textured hair. Why didn’t my mother foresee my struggles and opted for abortion, or at least bleached me until I looked liked Michael Jackson circa 2008.
I would love nothing more than to wake up one day and look like Christina Ricci or Hilary Clinton. I mean as a person with skin brown pigment, why should I feel proud of my culture. My ancestors were stolen from areas in Africa, dehumanized and psychologically transformed into animals, emotionally altered to fit in white society, and when they were given their “freedom”, were placed in jails for committing crimes against humanity and society. White people were there, and they never did any wrong, initially Africans enslaved each other, and of course the same way France would fight England, different tribes in Africa would sprawl against each other, but it was there own fault. How would Europe know these were rival tribes, only looking out for their native tongue and people in their villages? We can’t blame Spaniards for forcing their beliefs on others, they did it for the Africans’ own good. And who said the Natives in American did not need to be educated? NOT the Spaniards that’s who, they were only trying to help.
The same way Europe was helping Africa, the same way Africans were helping themselves. I don’t see the burden in being white, because thus far in history, white people have been victorious and why would any white person complain if they win. After all that’s what life is all about competition, who has the most money, who has the better body, who’s smarter, who’s whiter, who can control most of the world, who can force the most oppression so their privileged is never rivaled, who can rape women and not have it questioned, who can travel the world freely?
I feel bad for depressed white people or mentally ill or disabled or poor white people, because even with them being white, they still managed to get screwed over. I guess that is the one thing white people can’t control, biology or manage death, someone should write a letter:
Dear (Death, Illness, Time),
I understand you have a job to do, but could just over look me when doing it, I’m a white person. However, there was a group of blacks and browns, yellows, tans, that you should visit. I mean what would they want to be healthy and alive for, they will never be white.
